This is a Ram 1200 pickup. You can have it with a diesel engine (126hp), 4wd, and four doors. You however, cannot have it in the United States.
I’d want mine similar to this, lifted, 33” tires!
This is a Middle East only model. It is a Ram in name only. It is actually the Mitsubishi L200 and assembled in Thailand.
With the coming of the Ranger and the already available Colorado... should we demand this as the new ‘Dakota’?!
I kinda want one. There is something so agreeable about a small, diesel, 4x4 truck. It can go everywhere, haul a little bit, and they’re thrifty. What isn’t to love?!

I think America has enough mega-cab stubby-bed options.

M aybe M itsubishi can “negotiate” with the trumpster to waive the chicken tax for them so they can bring it over here. I’ll bet Mitsu dealers would love having something like that.

Colorado’s doing good, and the Ranger’s probably gonna cruise along as well. A Dakota’s probably in the future. Then again this is FCA.

i think at their last dealers meeting FCA announced that the dakota would be coming back. im just really hoping its true

Fiat Fullback /Mitsubishi L200
Nissan Navara/Mercedes Benz X Class/
etc...
All these companies sell in the U.S. as well as RAM, surely anyone one of them could bring the vehicle in .

A mid-size metric-ton pickup was included in the new 5-year plan released by FCA around a month ago. I believe it’s targeted for sometime around 2022.

I’m more waiting for the new Frontier. If my dad was skinnier, he’d probably have a current model right now.
![]() 08/18/2018 at 19:39 |

FCA won’t be getting it in for North America any time soon. Mainly because Mitsubishi is now part of the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance. And both Nissan and Mitsubishi have said that the next version of both pickup’s will be co- developed for Alliance uses. And probably for M-B as well.
Where that leaves FCA is anyone's guess.

Yeah, the Frontier or X-Terra really is n’t good for anyone over 6 ft. and 240 lbs. or so. Thankfully I am the size of an ant so I do not face any issues when I encounter a Frontier/X-Terra

Market’s clearly there. No reason it wouldn’t make sense. My dad sure as hell would be happy.

Dad is 6’4” and around 300. He fit height-wise. Our torsos aren’t long, so we can fit in a long of cars. My dad told me he had headroom in the Frontier he drove (he thought about buying a neighbor’s 2011 Pro-4X), but no room side-to-side. I didn’t think we’d fit in the Tacoma, but we both do, and the SR with all of that safety gear standard for $25,000 new is kind of tempting.
![]() 08/18/2018 at 20:59 |

Wow, that’s extremely tempting considering the resale value. We’ve got this Tacoma in for quite a bit more than that.

You think you want small pickups
![]() 08/18/2018 at 21:35 |

There is nothing small about them, they are all mid-sized. If you want a mid-sized truck with a diesel, then yes!
No one (excluding Japanese Kei trucks & Indian/Chinese city utility trucks) makes small size pick-ups anymore anywhere in the World.

All he needs is a RWD four-cylinder extended cab. We always take the CR-V going places as a family, anyways. Smaller means more likely to fit in the garage, too. This is a work truck with black plastic bumpers that has forward collision warning; incredible. An SR would be perfect for him; the only advanced features his xB has are power windows and locks and a touchscreen with a backup camera. The Tacoma has that and more.

Only if they bring this to the US too
Ram 700, similar in concept to the Focus based pickup truck that Ford wants to do.
If FCA got the 1200 and 700 federalized, they could beat Ford and Chevy to the punch of bringing back small trucks
![]() 08/18/2018 at 23:10 |

Yes, they should bring it over here
![]() 08/18/2018 at 23:11 |

L200's are pretty decent little utes off road too.

They just need to quit screwing around and do it right. Where are the cooled seats and trailer brake controller options on the new Ranger? Just because it’s smaller than the F-150 and Super duty doesn’t mean it should lack the essentials.
![]() 08/18/2018 at 23:37 |

I think that while we probably won’t get this current one, the next Triton/Fullback/1200 will be coming to Canada and the US whenever it launches, as the truck’s been out for quite some time and is due for a new generation. Especially given the rather sharp increase in popularity of midsize trucks like the Colorado, Tacoma, and Ranger.

But would you rather have this... or another CUV?!
![]() 08/19/2018 at 03:16 |

I’d think any small, affordable truck would sell at this point.

I think the crash testing nerds can be thanked for that.

The Chinese have a similar truck . It's called the photon . About the size of a Toyota Tacoma 4door truck using a Cummins 4 cylinder diesel engine and a 5 speed transmission . Cost was 1,250,000 Philippines pesos .
![]() 08/19/2018 at 10:20 |

I would be ok with it as long as it is less than 20k. With its fully loaded option around 25k. The US needs more affordable options for people who just want a smaller truck that does what most people need to have one do. Not this current model of 30k for the ranger 2019, Colorado, canyon, and Tacoma. This is where Detroit especially had massive amounts of scope creep and didn't listen to the consumers.

It’s not that small...

Would anyone really want a cheap sl ow unreliable unsafe Mitsubishi truck? A 20 year old Tacoma is still a better truck. And cheaper. I don’t think anyone would buy it anyway. For the same reason you don’t see many of Mitsubishi's other cars around. I have a 3000gt vr4. Even as an owner I have no illusions that any Mitsubishi is a good vehicle.
![]() 08/19/2018 at 11:01 |

The smart car would like a word with you about size not being the deciding factor in crash testing.

You WANT a Mitsubishi?! Sounds like you've never owned one.
![]() 08/19/2018 at 14:07 |

FCA has the new Jeep midsize comming out. So I don't expect there to be a midsize Ram anytime soon. They would be competing with themselves for the same market.
![]() 08/19/2018 at 14:12 |
|
Relative to yester-year, yes. Today (minus Kei anything) it’s about as small as we will get.
![]() 08/19/2018 at 14:13 |

Okay, but is this truck any worse than they’re current offerings?! Look at what Mitsubishi used to be and look at what they offer is now. It’s been a far fall my friend.

I want one!

The Jeep Wrangler based truck is coming! Why would anyone want this morphodite? My experience with Mitsubishi has been a positive one, but seriously. Why be mad about not having this truck in the USA? Oooohhhh yay another diesel that will be as unreliable as all the rest with after treatment exhaust systems setting MIL lights on the daily and costing more to maintain than a gasser!! Ask GM how many people bought into the Rudolph muscle powered Colorado, then ask how many were pleased lol. NO THANKS!

The Fiat Strada/Ram 700 is a 1995 Palio (which itself is a cheapened 1993 Fiat Punto) with a bed in its fourth (admittedly extensive) facelift, basically a 25 years old truck with a lot of makeup. It is cool looking and small, but it is also prehistoric, unsafe and inefficient.
![]() 08/19/2018 at 18:58 |

I want a Mitsubishi too.

Fod and Chevy have done this for decades..
We have ALWAYS had US only cars and certain foreign market cars especially trucks. There has been 4 door toyotas and Nissans decades before America has them. When I was in Iraq most the people trying to kill us back in 90 and 91 were in old 4 door Nissans

My Dodge Colt was a champ. Only change changed the oil and air filter and it was good for a hundred fifty thousand miles still running strong when I sold it . It started every morning parked outside at Montana when he even people with new covers couldn’t get their started. I must have been lucky.

It is a POS Mitsubishi. Don't confuse this tin can to a Ram.

There is no confusion. Rams aren’t exactly much more solid than tin...
